OM3 (Aqua jacket) supports 10G up to 300 m and 40G/100G SR4 up to 100 m. OM4 (Violet jacket) supports 10G up to 400 m and 40G/100G SR4 up to 150 m, with extra modal bandwidth headroom. OM5 (Lime green jacket) wideband fiber additionally supports SWDM4 (4 wavelengths x 25G) up to 440 m for 100G and 400G SR4.2 deployments using a single MPO-12.

Base-8 uses 1 MTP-8 connector breaking out to 4x LC Duplex — for 40G/100G SR4 and standard data center deployments. Base-16 uses 1 MTP-16 connector breaking out to 8x LC Duplex — for 400G/800G PSM4/DR4 and emerging 800G deployments requiring 2x density over Base-8.

What is Type A vs Type B vs Type C polarity in MTP/MPO systems?

A

Type A (straight-through) maps position 1 to position 1 across the link — used for direct transceiver-to-transceiver links. Type B (crossover) maps position 1 to position 12 — used for direct MTP cassette-to-cassette connection without patch cords. Type C (pair-flipped) flips each fiber pair — used for breakout applications. ZTO Cable’s standard MTP/MPO products use Type B polarity, the most common polarity for data center deployments.

Yes. Custom fiber counts from 12 to 864 cores, custom lengths from 0.5 m to 500 m, and custom connector combinations (LC / SC / FC / ST / MTP / MDC, UPC / APC, simplex / duplex / multi-fiber) are available. Mixed-mode deployments (e.g., OM3 trunk to OM4 patch cord) and hybrid assemblies (LC-SC, APC-UPC) can also be quoted on request.
